Right, I'm doing this now as I won't be about tomorrow.
Bloggers, the nominations for the Bloscars 2009 is now open. You can download a form here ->
(EXCEL FORMAT) or
(WORD FORMAT) then email it to bloscars @ gmail.com (with no spaces inbetween the words and the @). Or, if you email me at the same address I'll send you a form. Please tell me if you want it in word or excel format. Alternatively you can just put your nominations in the email. You can nominate yourself.
Over the next two months, until the results are revealed there will also be mini-polls to keep you entertained, the results of which will be announced each week as a new poll appears.
The categories and a bit about each of them are as follows.
Best Profile Tags
The blogger you feel has the best user tags. These are the tags given to them by other people, not the ones they give themselves.
Best Profile Picture
The blogger with the best profile picture. It can be any of the ones they use but must be a profile picture and not just a picture in their media. In can be in their media as well but must also be in their profile pictures.
Funniest Blog/Blogger
This could be a blog or blogger that makes you laugh with either their entries or comments or even pictures.
Best Photographic Blog/Blogger
This blogger doesn't have to be part of the Photographic Group or even be a professional, it could just be someone who you think blogs good/nice pictures. You can nominate only a blog OR a blogger, you may not nominate any groups for this category.
Most Artistic Blog/Blogger
For this you could choose someone who has an artistic blog design or it could be a blogger who is actually an artist. You choose.
Best Blog Design
Of all the blog designs out there which one stands out for you? You can only nominate a blog for this award, not a blogger or group.
Best Video Blog/Blogger
Who posts the best videos?
Best Blog Commenter
Either funny or serious, round the house or straight the point, which blogger leaves the best comments.
Best Story Blog/Blogger/Group
Which blog, blogger or group entertains you with stories of either fiction or true life.
Best News Blog
Who keeps you update with current affairs? Remember this could be about the entertainment industry or technology, it doesn't just have to be about what is making the headlines.
Most Helpful Blog/Blogger
Who helps you out? It doesn't have to be someone who has helped you with a blog design or sorted your log-in problems, it could just be someone who has given you good advice, lent you a fiver, picked you up out the gutter. It could also be a blog that has lead you in the right direction!
Best Male Newcomer
To nominate someone in this category the blogger has to have joined after January 1st 2008. You can only nominate bloggers, not blogs or groups.
Best Female Newcomer
To nominate someone in this category the blogger has to have joined after January 1st 2008. You can only nominate bloggers, not blogs or groups.
Best Group - NEW
Groups have been around long enough to warrant a category so here it is. You can only nominate a group, not a blogger or blog.
Blogger You'd Like To Know Personally
Look at all the bloggers about today. Which one have you not met that you'd like to or which one do you wish was a good friend in the place we call the real world rather than just the cyberworld. Who do you wish you'd known before BCUK? Bloggers only, not blogs or groups... which should be obvious!
Best Female Blogger
This category should be obvious from it's title... who it's the best female blogger. Don't get nominating blogs or groups... bloggers only!
Best Male Blogger
This category should be obvious from it's title... who it's the best male blogger. Don't get nominating blogs or groups... bloggers only!
The following categories have been removed:
Laziest Blogger - Lets face it, no likes to win this one really!
Best Off-Site Website/Blog - These are the Bloscars! - for blog.co.uk... no one else.
Best Blog/Blogger - No need for these when there are best male and best female awards.
The Moira Smith Forget-Me-Not Award - It was not a difficult decision to get rid of this award even if it may appear harsh. By all accounts the award was causing too much animosity among bloggers who disagreed with the winners and though others deserved it more. People also weren't happy that I only allowed one entry on the nomination form. So, rather than face a myriad of annoying emails I've just removed the award. For those of us that knew Moira her memory will live on.
The following suggestions were not taken up but I'd like to thank the people who sent in suggestions:
Sexiest Male and Sexiest Female - I might use this in a mini-poll over the next two months but considering how some people get over the Bloscars I don't think there is any need to have them in the full awards. If enough people think so then I might add them next year.
Most Annoying Blogger - The issue I have with this is that although I know I'd win the bloscars is my baby and the temptation to fix it so that a troll won would be far too great. And... how would I feel if someone I actually like really won?
Best Blog Entry - We had this category in the first year and it caused too much confusion
Blogger You Miss - My own personal list is too extensive, goes back three years and it would be impossible to pick just three people.
Most Competitive Blogger - It's me. I win. Awards over.
Gayest Blogger - See above.
Any other suggestion are welcome but they won't be included in the 2009 Bloscars.
So fellow bloggers... you have until Midnight on January 31st to make you nominations. I'll be keeping my mail box open to see who is the first to send in nominations and I'm opening the book on who'll be last.. again ![]()
By the way... co-authors... feel free to write entries!
