After chasing all over the country and tracking down our various and varied winners, and finally managing to get them to speak to me!!
Here are the results, enjoy.
Best Female Newcomer-Missymouse
Have you ever tried interviewing while on the run? This lady never stops, I felt like I needed to go hire speedy Gonzales to ask her the questions
When she finally paused for a few minutes this is what she had to say.
LJ:Hey, how's your head after all that celibrating?
MM
o you know, I thought you were joking about the interviews
LJ: you have won best female newcomer, how does that make you feel?
M: I am delighted at being the the best female newcomer...tis indeed an honour considering all the other nominees who were all worthy of this title too!
LJ: Thats quite a following you have built up in your short time on Blog, what would you attribute that to?
MM: I can't attribute the following to anything really. The only thing I can think is that all my "followers" are as mad as me!
LJ: Is there anyone/thing that you would say has influenced your choice of blog and/or blog style?
MM: I don't think anyone has influenced my blogging style. This is just "me" and how I am on a day to day basis. Honestly, anyone who knows me will agree that what you see is what you get
LJ: Is there anything you would like to say to anyone?
MM: would honest like to thank everyone out there in blog land who takes the time to come and read my blog and pass comment. Sometimes I nag on about nothing in particular and other times I go on about the price of eggs but hey, this is me life for real!!
LJ: And in your own words, Missymouse a little about yourself for our readers
MM: A word about me? Well, I am a fat, very unfit 50 year old who still thinks she is 21. She loves life, her family, her friends and her newly discovered blogging family. Everyone adds something to my day to day life and for that I am eternally grateful. Life would be so dull otherwise! I just take each day as it comes and that is normally full on while I am wearing a crash helmet. Some of it hits damm hard!
Love you all loads and loads xx
And we love you too Missymouse *whoosh* she is gone again!
Best Male Newcomer -Kibitz
I had to use bloodhounds to find this guy, talk about hiding his light under a bushel, I finally managed to track him down disguised as a tree
(He is shy you know)
LJ: You have won the bloscar for the best male newcomer, how does that make you feel?
Kibitz: Surprised, pleased and slightly embarrassed. I?d mentally placed my money on BearCub. On his behalf I demand a recount! Landers-san! I hope you?re listening!
LJ: have obviously made quite an impact since joining the community, to what would you attribute that?
Kibitz: Seriously - No idea! To me my posts seem self obsessed and frequently rather confusing. I write in the moment. Whatever I?m thinking. Mayhap in some way that?s a good thing?
LJ: Is there any one thing/person that you feel has influenced your um style of blogging?
Kibitz: Mmmm ... I?m not sure. Methinks my um style?s evolved. So I guess something somewhere?s influential. Should I ever experience some momentary insight - I promise I?ll let you know!
LJ: there anything you would like to say?
Kibitz: Er ... About what exactly? Oh! You mean The Bloscars! Sorry! Okay! I?m honoured, unworthy and smiling like crazy! For now methinks that will have to do! I?m not well versed in interviews. Ooops - Nearly forgot! THANK YOU!
LJ: And in your own words a little about you, for our readers
Kibitz: Gosh! What a question! Is pass an acceptable answer? I?m me and I?m peckish. I?m going for breakfast. Farewell and Fini! Adam ... x
Funniest Blog/blogger-Kevin Wilson
Another busy bee, I caught up with Kevin somewhere in between the computer and his file-o-fax and then persuaded him to sit for five minutes
LJ: Hi Kevin, now you have sobered up, erm you are sober aren't you?
Kev nods
LJ: You have won the award for funniest blog/blogger, how does this make you feel?
Kevin: well, I feel very very pleased. i don't often win things, so it does feel good! this is special because it suggests that what i'm doing is being appreciated, and that makes me feel proud.
LJ: To what would you attribute your unique sense of humour (you dont mind me saying it is unique?)
Kevin: it's strange, but i think this style i've adopted has just grown from blogging. i've always been a giggler (especially at school, where i was always the one who got sent to the back of the class for laughing. my school report once said i was 'too silly in class' and i'm extremely proud to say that i am still silly! i love writing, and i love the blank screen where i can just put words down and invent situations and people. it would be rewarding even if no-one read my stuff, but to know that other people like what i do is so satisfying.
LJ: Is there anyone you have looked on as a role model?
Kevin: my comedy heroes have always been laurel and hardy, and tommy cooper... people who can sort of twist life around and make it even more funny. but i also loved the people around me in manchester, who were naturally funny (often without knowing it).
LJ: Is there anyone you would like to say anything to?
Kevin: big thank you to everyone who voted for me, and also to those who didn't but are my blog friends anyway (this sounds too serious ...)
LJ: And a little about you sir, for our readers.
Kevin: about me. apart from being king of the isle of kevin, i work for myself - earning money doing stuff like publicity, organising events, writing and editing magazines. i've spent my whole life as a writer, and i can't imagine doing anything else. now here i am, writing this... i'm married, three grown up children (two girls and a boy - none of them as silly as me), and i have a border collie dog called ruby, who definitely is as silly).
hope that's enough, lyndj - and thanks for being part of the bloscars team and giving me the chance to say how wonderful i am. i almost forgot to mention that fact ...!
And off with pen and paper in hand for the next round of, well whatever is on the top of that list by the looks of it!
Best blog design-Soyunperdedor
I caught up with Soy in a dark room nursing a poly head, touch too much vino last night Soy?
Soy nods head gingerly while holding it in hands.
LJ: You have just won the bloscar for best blog design, how does this make you feel?
SOY: Surprised to have even been nominated - but hurrah for me!
LJ: To what would you attribute your success in this bloscar?
Soy: Well the design I have at the moment is quite recent - before The Stripes and Hamster (that sounds like the name of a pub) it was mainly black and white with an ever-changing cartoon as the header to reflect my current situation, mood etc. I suppose it was quite simple without being cluttered up with widgets etc - it was to the point, and vaguely amusing at times...I don't know how that got me nominated though! However, I think the new background and, of course, an interactive hamster may have done it for me in the end.
LJ: Is there any particular person/thing that influenced your choice of design?
Soy: Extensive use of the cartoons of marriedtothesea.com, nataliedee.com, toothpastefordinner.com (they're great!), and garfieldminusgarfield.net. I wish I could remember where I got the stripes from - thank you stripe-man, whoever you are. I have something of a reputation for being slightly obsessed with cute rodents, so I had to put the hamster on there! I like to keep things simple and neat, with all the colours matching and everything aligned...if anybody knows what I'm like with my socks, they'll understand.
LJ: Anything you want to say to anyone?
Soy: Aww, cheers duderinos. That's the Pro-account paid for and Andre-this is for you
LJ: And a little about you Soy, for our readers:
Soy: I love curry, fish and rodents. I'm a bit odd, and I can't keep secrets. Perservere, I'm worth it
And now Soy, soy? Are you asleep? *tiptoes out of room ssshhhhhh*
Best video blog/blogger-Notbob
I caught up with notbob in a room full of CD players and turntables, though I did have to tap him on the shoulder to get him to remove the headphones for five minutes!
LJ: Hi,Are we sober yet?
Notbob: I've won something and you expect me to be sober?
LJ: You have just won the bloscar for best video blog/blogger, how does this make you feel?
NotBob: I feel honoured and more than a little surprised to be honest to be given this award. I can only put it down to my eclectic taste in music, varying as it does with my moods. Sometimes a bit calm and soothed by the works of Beethoven, Holst and Mozart yet at other times in need of a good old-fashioned head-banging session with AC/DC and the like. A little bit of everything all mixed up to make a fully rounded persona, if you will.
LJ: Is there any particular attribute you would put your success down to?
Notbob: Sometimes it feels like the only reason I'm alive is because of the music I enjoy. I'm just glad that someone out there enjoys even a small part of what I enjoy. And for them to enjoy it enough to have considered me worthy of an award gives me a feeling of acceptance.
LJ: Is there any one thing/person that you feel influences your choice of videos?
Notbob: To be honest, "The Ferret" started as a small side-project before I turned pro and I wouldn't have minded if everyone had ignored me in my guise as my "sidekick". (Yes, I know I kept going on about my sidekick, but that's just me - I can't keep a secret identity very secret.) It was a personal thing that grew to become more important to me at times than my main blog so it was inevitable that the "sidekick" would be ditched and "The Ferret" would be my second home.
LJ: Anything you want to say to anyone?
Notbob: I just want to thank you, Landers (and Scoobs for putting up with him!) and AJ for making the Bloscars possible, and everyone else for making BCUK such a wonderful community to be involved with.
LJ: In your own words Bob, a little about yourself for our readers
Notbob: Basically my life in general tends to be a bit drab and dreary, but music makes everything feel so much more bearable.
Earphones back on and he is off choosing the next video for the Ferret.
Best News Blog-Juzzzy
I caught up with the Zed man in a little cafe as he was out searching for his latest scoop, I persuaded him to sit and have a coffee and a little chat (Flattery works wonders you know)
LJ: K, well firstly you have won the bloscar for the best news blog, with so many *cough* 'news blogs'*cough* out there how does this make you feel?
Juzzy: I'm flattered, of course.
But it's also an oxymoron, I suppose, for someone who in life is a journalist and for fun is a blogger to win a news blog, that isn't, really, "news", just my opinion of it. I probably bitch too much about certain things but I try occasionally to show the other side of the fence. Either way, I'm happy to be awarded. There are a lot of fine bloggers out there.
LJ: Is there any particular person that you feel has influenced your journalistic career?
Juzzzy: Yes. Roger Blyth, a Yorkshireman who is no longer with us, was my journalistic father and in some ways my hero. He was an incredible man, a brilliant journalist, a real maker of people, responsible for half of Fleet Street because he trained most of them. I was just 18 when I joined his employ, and two months after that Hillsborough happened - if it wasn't for Roger I would have crumpled and fell; he made me stand up and report, gave me backbone, made me question, made me never, ever, ever to accept "no" or "no comment", and made me realise that reporters, such as they are, do have a role in our lives. I miss him immensely, and not least because he invented the world "fuckerama!" when a great story came in. Thank you for reminding me of a man I adored.
LJ: To what do you attribute your continuing success in the bloscars?
Juzzzy Luck? Who knows... I think I'm quite good at telling a tale... I think I'm quite good at turning a phrase... I certainly think I'm good at picking apart detail... but what I think doesn't matter, it's the reader - it's always the reader, either here or at work - so it's what they think, counts, not me.
LJ: Is there anything you would like to say to anyone?
Juzzzy: BCUK is marvellous. The community is marvellous. Landers is a star for doing this year in, year out - I love that man, and Brad for putting up with him, just for doing this. Thanks too to you and AJ.
LJ: And finaly Mr Zeds, a little about you, in your own words, for our readers.
Juzzy: I'm a schmuck. But I'm trying. See you next year. xx
A smile and off with notepad (Electronic of course) in hand
And now the first of our triple winners Mr AJ Spencer
Best Photographic blog, Most Artisitic Blog, Most helpful blogger-AJ Spencer
I caught up with AJ and Lady Spencer in the garden where AJ was busy snapping a little birdie that had come down to drink from the birdbath. They very kindly gave me five minutes of their time.
LJ: A few questions thats all
AJ: [these are gonna be really shit I'm bad at talking about myself]
LJ: You are one of two triple winners how does this triple win make you feel?
AJ: It's great! I've been waiting for three and a half years of blogging to have something in common with Nick...
LJ: We know that you love photography and also have an artistic eye, were you pleased to be nominated for these categories and then to win them?
AJ: I did suggest to Landers that it should be like the Olympics, I should be barred from entering these because I'm a pro
Obviously it's great as a vindication of my career choice, although I've never really seen what I do as art or artistic so that was an even bigger surprise than the other two. I always see art as painting or drawing, not photography. I spose I differentiate between people's own skill with their hands, and mine of pointing a piece of electronics and pressing a button.
Although I love taking photos I love it when other people like them too, I normally review my photos mentally ticking ones off "I'll blog this one with this caption..." so to find out other people appreciate it has to be pleasing.
LJ: To what would you attribute your success?
Luck.
For the photo side of things I have the natural beauty of Devon around me, it's often hard not to take a good picture around here. I also have the spare time and the equipment which does help, even though I think a great photo can be taken on a 50 quid compact just as easily as on my *mumbled price* DSLR.
As for the helpfulness one, I'm just lucky I've picked up things over the years and managed to snag a few random facts that help people out. I'm also lucky there due to the fact I think Rampage should have won it...
LJ: Is there any particular person that you would say influenced your photography etc?
AJ: Not in the way of a photographer. I must admit when I find something I love doing I like DOING it, not reading about it. Although photography is my life I know very little about previous photographers.
It has to be said though, I was an infrequent snapper till a visit to Cambridge gave me the real shutterbug, and the person who was there with me then is someone who's forever given me support in my career choice.
It's fair to say a lot of the time when I take a photo I wonder what Subs' reaction to it will be. She's pretty much the reason I have the guts to do what I do and not go down the safe job route.
LJ: Anything you would like to say to anyone?
aJ: To anyone who voted for me, thank you. I can't believe it and I think you're nuts, but that's not to say I'm not grateful.
LJ: For Mrs AJ (Sorry Subz, but it sounds good
)
Would you say that being helpful is part of AJ's nature?
Subz: Oh definitely. It's ingrained in him through and through like the writing on a stick of rock.
LJ: A little about AJ from both of you, for our readers
AJ: Well, according to these I'm a helpful artistic photographer. Personally I'd go with nerdy techno geek with too much time on my hands. Personally I'd rather people made their own ideas about me, they're probably more inventive than I could ever be.
Subz went all shy on this one
I left them discussing the bird in the bath and tiptoed away, to be honest dont think they noticed I had gone
And the second of our Triple winners
Best profile tags, Best Blog Commentor, Best Male blogger-Oldnick
I caught up with Mr Nick in the study, we sat on a big leather sofa in a dark wood panelled room in front of a big fire and he was very kind and got me a drink.
LJ: Good Evening Mr Nick, you are one of our triple winners tonight, can I ask how you are feeling right now?
Nick: Worryingly sober
LJ: What does this award mean to you (Best profile tags)
Nick: that I have some very funny friends who give enough of a poop to tag me with odd and weird comments.
LJ: You are a triple winner, and one of those bloscars is one of the top honours of Best blogger (male of course) How does this make you feel?
Nick: Amazed at how so little can amuse and entertain so....well probably few - but I am a tad chuffed and touched. Mainly by that weird bloke in the soiled raincoat behind the bus stop. But I am getting therapy for that. One day the nightmares will stop.....
LJ: What do you put your rise in fame down to?
Nick: The fact that I swear like a trouper and am not afraid to detail all my perversions and failings and sick thoughts in graphic detail in my friends only posts. What?......Fuck I thought you had to click THAT button to make them friends only....shit - do you mean anyone can see what happened when I was a choirboy and all that stuff about the matchbox trick?!!
LJ: Can I ask if the black billowy shirt you are wearing is new or the one in the last picture?
Nick: I am wearing one of shipscooks navy jackets in the profile pick with a normal dull black non billowy shirt underneath. The billowy one was not then purchased from the little shop in Edinburgh.
LJ: Will you be defending your crown in 2010?
Nick: Erm, no. I will have passed on under the weight of true adult hood. Or have ascended to a higher level of poverty and stress. God I love this country!
LJ: Are there any people you would like to thank after picking up these awards?
Nick: Everybody that tagged me obviously... Everyone that posts something I can comment on and everyone that voted for me, though I will now be skint for the next two years, of did I say that aloud!
LJ: Mr Nick your mascara is running are you brimming over with joy?
Nick: No, it is just my allergies to women causing that....ahem.
LJ: Mr Nick, where do you go from here?
Nick: I think, out into the garden for a fag and a mouthful of tangy liquid, but as landers is not here I will have to settle for a ciggie and a glass of whisky.
LJ: Last question and I will leave you to celebrate with your family and friends, a little about you Nick, for our readers, a message perhaps?
Nick: GET OUT OF MY YARD!
LJ: Aww thought we was having a cig?
Nick: (grumbling) bloody hell woman you had a drink what more you want, come on then but just the one mind!!
Best Profile Pic-Emsbabee
This lady took a lot of catching up with, she is so busy and always on the go!! I raced round after her with pad and pencil in hand, do you know how hard it is to write when you are running behind someone?
LJ: You have won best profile pic, how are you feeling right now
Emsbabee: A bit of a fraud. I didn't take the picture, I certainly didn't pose for it. If anybody should be taking credit right now then it's probably somebody at Google.
LJ: What does this award mean to you?
LJ: Probably more than it should.
LJ: Can you tell us if that picture has any significance for you, why you chose that particular one?
Emsbabee: Urm, I have always harboured a secret longing to be an emaciated IT girl.
LJ: Can I ask who designed your beautiful dress? (the one worn to the bloscars by the way)
Emsbabee: My stylist, Goujon.
LJ: Can you slow down a bit?
Emsbabee: *Grin*
LJ: Is there anyone you would like to say anything to?
Emsbabee: MJohnson: 'I owe you a Coke'
LJ: Tell us a little about yourself, in your own words, for our readers
Emsbabee: Readers, let me tell you, don't believe anything I write in my blog. It's all lifted straight from Wikipedia.
And there you have our final interview, the delightful and elusive Emsbabee, thank you.
And there you have it ladies and Gentlemen. The interviews so far, La-Spice is out Doing a whistle stop tour of the UK, though I am sure she will have something lovely to say when she gets back.
There are a couple I have been unable to catch up with and the Ask and Answer blog already has its own questions
Seriously folks go take a look it is a very interesting place.
And thats all from me for this year, hope you had fun and see you all next time.
